August 20th, 2016: Paddle Canada Basic SUP Skills, Cost: $80

Stand Up Paddleboarding is currently the fastest growing paddle sport in the world! Not only is it a lot of fun, but it’s also a great workout and you don’t need a lot of gear to do it!

In this course a certified Paddle Canada SUP instructor will introduce you to paddling in enclosed sheltered waters and calm conditions. Skills and knowledge covered include: balancing on a board, basic forward & turning strokes, different paddling positions for different weather conditions, falling off/remounting, paddle selection, board design, and safety awareness.

Course length is 2.5-3 hours.

At the end of the course, you will be awarded with a Paddle Canada Basic SUP Skills certificate which will allow you to progress to the Paddle Canada Advanced SUP Skills course.

You can bring your own board or rent one for a special course price from Montreal River Outpost.

August 10th SUP FUNdamentals, Sponsored by the Town of La Ronge Community Services Department

supThis is a fun 1.5 hours intro to the fastest growing paddle sport – stand-up paddle boarding (SUP)! Not only is it a lot of fun, but it’s also a great workout and you don’t need a lot of gear to do it.  No board, no problem! You can bring your own board or you can rent one for a special rate at Montreal River Outpost.

No previous experience necessary – a perfect class to enjoy with friends or family (must be age 16+) – but you must be able to swim and be alright with falling off your board 🙂 You will learn basic safety, equipment and paddling techniques and give you lots of practice time to solidify fundamental skills with a Paddle Canada Instructor.  If you want to learn more than how to balance, paddle forward and basic turns, please register for the longer “SUP Basic Skills” class.

Registration is through the Town of La Ronge Community Services Department at: 306-425-2066.

Saturday, July 16: SUP Basic Skills (Paddle Canada certified course) – Cost: $80

Stand Up Psupaddleboarding is currently the fastest growing paddle sport in the world! Not only is it a lot of fun, but it’s also a great workout and you don’t need a lot of gear to do it!

In this 2.5-3hr course, a Paddle Canada SUP instructor will introduce you to a few more details than the shorter “SUP FUNdamentals” class. Skills and knowledge covered include: balancing on a board, basic forward & turning strokes, different paddling positions for different weather conditions, falling off/remounting, paddle selection, board design, and safety awareness.

Upon successful completion of this course, paddlers will be awarded with the Paddle Canada Basic SUP Certification and be able to progress into the SUP Advanced Skills Paddle Canada course.

July 25 – July 29, 2016 – Camp KICKS (Kids into Canoeing, Kayaking and Stand-up Paddle Boarding)

This 2 hour asup day paddle camp is run through Gordon Denny Community School for ages 9-12.  At Camp KICKS, kids will learn a different paddle sport each day – canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.  Emphasis is on learning through fun games while learning how to paddle smart and safe.
